Marcuccio crime family

The Marcuccio crime family is a fictional American Mafia family created by Mike Dickson for the Code crime fiction series. This family is depicted as one of the two dominant factions emerging from the disintegration of the real-life Philadelphia crime family following the Second Philadelphia Mafia War (1980-1984). The Marcuccio family, led by Giuseppe Marcuccio, is based in South Philadelphia.

History

The beginning

The Philadelphia crime family, also known by several names including the Bruno–Scarfo crime family, the Philadelphia–Atlantic City crime family, the Philadelphia Mafia, the Philly Mafia, and the Philadelphia–South Jersey Mafia, is an Italian-American Mafia organization based in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Originally formed and centered in South Philadelphia, the organization primarily operates in the Philadelphia area and the broader Greater Philadelphia metropolitan region, extending into South Jersey. The family is infamous for its violent history, a series of ruthless leaders, and numerous mob wars.

During the leadership of Angelo Bruno from 1959 to 1980, the family experienced a period of relative peace and prosperity, known as the Bruno crime family era. However, this tranquility ended with Bruno's assassination in 1980, triggered by internal disputes and territorial ambitions of the New York Genovese crime family. Bruno's death initiated a prolonged period of internal strife and power struggles within the Philadelphia family, leading to its gradual decline.

Philip "The Chicken Man" Testa, a close ally of Bruno, succeeded him as boss. Unfortunately, Testa's tenure was short-lived, as he was killed in a nail bomb explosion in 1981, just a year after Bruno's murder, further contributing to the family's instability.

The end of the Philadelphia crime family

The Second Philadelphia Mafia War (1980-1984) was a bloody conflict that ultimately led to the downfall of the Philadelphia crime family. This period saw intense violence between two factions led by Luca Vitale and Giuseppe Marcuccio. As the war ravaged the family, the Mafia Commission intervened to restore order.

To resolve the chaos, the Mafia Commission decided to dismantle the Philadelphia crime family and split its territory between two new families: the Vitale crime family, led by Luca Vitale, and the Marcuccio crime family, led by Giuseppe Marcuccio. This decision aimed to reduce the violence and restore stability to the region.

In April 1984, Luca Vitale and Giuseppe Marcuccio were each awarded control over their respective territories. Vitale was given the northern part of the greater Philadelphia metropolitan area, extending to the Delaware River and parts of New Jersey, including South Jersey and Atlantic City. Marcuccio was given the southern part of the Delaware Valley, including South Philadelphia and Wilmington, Delaware.

Don Donatello (born October 27,1942) is an Italian-American mobster and current boss of the Marcuccio crime family in South Philadelphia. Donatello became the acting boss after the namesake Giuseppe Marcuccio was arrested and sentence to life in prison. After Marcuccio's death while in prison Don Donatello became the official boss of the Marcuccio crime family on June 23, 1996.

• Dominick Graziano - Underboss

Dominick Graziano (born c. 1940) is a prominent member of the Marcuccio crime family. Graziano rose through the ranks of the Mafia, starting as an associate in the Genovese crime family's Greenwich Village crew, before becoming a key figure in the Marcuccio crime family.

Salvatore Trillo (born: April 02,1954) is a key figure in the Marcuccio crime family, serving as its current consigliere. Despite a childhood shrouded in secrecy, Michael's intelligence was evident from a young age.
